Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka Engaged, Not Actively Planning Wedding

Several celebrities have lauded the passage of the Marriage Equality Bill in New York on Friday, which will give same-sex couples a chance to marry in the state. The momentuous occasion prompted Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka to talk about the status of their relationship as engaged partners currently co-parenting fraternal twins Gideon and Harper.

On Friday Neil wrote: "It PASSED! Marriage equality in NY!! Yes!! Progress!! Thank you everyone who worked so hard on this!! A historic night!"

Later when a Twitter follower mentioned to Burtka that he should propose to NPH, he responded that he already had, and he's said yes. But it's not like this is breaking news. Neil revealed on his Twitter that the two of them have been thinking about marriage for a long time.

He wrote: "David and I did propose to each other, but over five years ago! We've been wearing engagement rings for ages, waiting for an available date."

On Monday he clarified their wedding status: "Dear media: Just because David and I will soon be able to marry in NY, doesn't mean we are actively planning a wedding. Cart before horse."

Well whenever it happens, we look forward to congratulating the happy couple.
