Mariah Carey is no longer under the scrutiny of child protective services. The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services has determined that there is no merit to the investigation launched after the department received a tip that the pop singer drank beer while breastfeeding in the hospital.
TMZ reported that the DCFS concluded that Mariah's twins are in a healthy and safe environment after social workers interviewed the singer and spent time with her babies on Thursday, May 26. It was noted that Laura Wasser, the "We Belong Together" hitmaker's lawyer, was present during the DCFS interview.
Accordingly, Mariah didn't hide the fact that she did drink a Guiness and admitted it to the social workers. Still, the wife of "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon noted she only did so after she was informed by a hospital staffer that drinking a dark beer would help her with lactating.
Mariah's husband, Nick, has previously discussed the matter in an interview with Piers Morgan in early May. "It all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, the dark beer, the yeast improves breastfeeding," he said at the time. "I don't know if someone heard that, but then they were saying my wife was drinking beer. People will do anything to try to conjure up a story."
Mariah and Nick welcomed their first children on April 30 when the "Heartbreaker" hitmaker gave birth to a baby girl named Monroe and a baby boy named Moroccan at a Los Angeles medical facility just after 9 A.M. local time. The babies remained under doctors' care before being discharged weeks later on May 14.
